My name is ashley mahan and one of the registered nurses working in this emergency department. How may i address you hi ash witty or you can call me pitcher all right rita if im not wrong.
I think. The doctor has already told. You regarding your son aidans condition.
Am. I right yes. The doctor was here a few minutes ago.
And he told me that aiden is having a tumor in his head. Im really worried about aiden because this is something that i cannot tolerate well. I know that it comes as a shock to you and you are really worried guarding that but please dont get worried he will be perfectly okay and he will completely recover yeah.
But you know i thought it was just a flu because he was showing all the symptoms of the flu and i thought he would recover since i thought it was a flu right but since he was not recovering that is why i brought him here. And when im hearing all of his sadness that he is having a tumor. You know its too much for me to take in yes regrettably.
Its true even though.
His presenting symptoms were suggestive of a flu. His investigations revealed that he has a tumor in the back of his head and the headaches that he was suffering from was due to this particular tumor. But you did the right thing by bringing him to this hospital at the right time yeah.
But various aidan. Its been almost five hours since i saw him and the doctor mentioned that it will take another hour for me to meet him is everything all right. Yes.
Everything is all right first of all let me apologize you for the fact that you have been waiting for your son for a long time. So first let me explain to you the reason. He was taken up for a procedure called mri during this procedure.
He was sedated in order to remind still so now he is in the water under observation. So you will be able to see your child. Very soon.
I know you are really overwhelmed take time to process this information mean. But is there anything that i need to clarify yes. The doctor mentioned that aiden has to undergo a surgery to remove his tumor.
You know hes just six years old and im really worried i really cant digest. The fact that he is going to undergo a surgery is it dangerous. I know its a lot to take in the doctor has told that he means a surgery to remove the particular cancer.
So after the surgery. He will be here at this hospital for a weeks time in order to check his progress and will this be a painful process for him to be frank. He will have little pain after the surgery.
But it will be managed with appropriate painkillers all right. And im just worried better this can come back you know once the tumor is removed is there any possibility it will come back. Where you concerns are really understandable.
Thought.
The doctor has said that the tumor is non cancerous. Which means that it wont spread to any part of the other organs. So dont get worried.
Moreover. Mri will be taken after her surgery in order to confirm that all right i know since he is just 6 years old. I know he is a small boy and all those medications and the surgery will this have a long term effect on his health.
Like im worried about his cognitive abilities. Well like other surgeries. The surgery.
Too will take some time to recover. So he may experience. Some difficulties and physical abilities behavior or speech.
But dont worry they will support him to overcome all those problems. Thank you very much for that you know im a single parent. Im really scared.
Im really worried about what to be done is there anything extra. I should do because im got it better. I cannot i can provide him to that more scare being a pattern.
I can really understand how much worried you are regarding your child. So at the time of birth. We will provide you a detailed instruction in both pretest as well as verbal format in order to take care of your child is it okay.
Yeah. Thats absolutely fine you know i have been a terrible mother. I was so busy so with my work and everything i should have taken more care for aiden.
Then he must have been fine now oh please dont blame yourself.
But the exit cause of cancer is unknown so please dont feel that you are responsible for that and please remember that if you remain healthy. Then only you will be you will be able to take care of your child you are right. But you know i still cant come to terms with it you know it it all happened so suddenly.
